Founder story

When unexplained health problems began, food was one of the last things I suspected.

At the age of 45, I began experiencing persistent fatigue, joint pain and a range of other symptoms that left both me and my GP searching for answers. After months of trial and error, a bacon sandwich provided an unexpected breakthrough. We discovered that wheat was the main culprit.

Over the following years, I learned that wheat was not my only problem. Through careful research, record-keeping and a fair amount of experimentation, I identified other ingredients that didn't agree with me, including dairy, maize starch, certain artificial sweeteners and a number of common food additives.

As a former accountant, I approached the challenge analytically. I tracked ingredients, tested theories and, with the help of my nutritionist, gradually built a clear picture of what worked for me and what didn't. My accountancy background taught me to follow the evidence, keep accurate records and look for patterns. Those same skills helped me identify the foods that were causing my symptoms

Once I removed these ingredients from my diet, the difference was remarkable. I felt healthier, had more energy and many of my symptoms disappeared.

After retiring from a 44-year career in accountancy, I decided to turn that experience into something useful for others.

That's why I founded Szu Foods.

My aim is simple: to provide straightforward food made from ingredients I trust and personally enjoy eating. No wheat, no dairy and no unnecessary additives. Just honest food that proves you don't have to compromise on taste because of dietary restrictions.

If you've ever stood in a supermarket reading ingredient labels and wondering what half the ingredients are, you're exactly the sort of person I created Szu Foods for.
